It was a privilege to be involved recently at the 88th Kukkiwon International Masters Course and the 42nd Kukkiwon International Poom/Dan Examiners Course held in Auckland from the 28 August through to the 2nd September 2022.
The Kukkiwon International Taekwondo Master course is a 40 hour program (10 hour sessions for 4 days) that covers wide range of Taekwondo topics such as Taekwondo history, Poomsae and Kyorugi coaching techniques.
It culminates in having to complete an exam and perform two Poomsae in front of a panel of Grand Masters from the Kukkiwon.
The Poom/Dan Examiner course is a 20 hour course (10 hour sessions over 2 days) which cover the rule, regulations and correct procedures of conducting gradings. It also covered correct Poomsae, stances and kicking techniques in order for them to be correctly evaluated and to achieve standardization across all Taekwondo practitioners.
Again this culminates in having to complete an exam and performing two chosen Poomsae in front of a panel of Grand Masters from the Kukkiwon.
It was great to see a large number of Taekwondo Masters from across NZ, Australia and Hong Kong attend this event. Everyone involved learnt a lot and all of our students and athletes will benefit from the new skills and technical knowledge we all obtained.
